SERVolution Day 4

1 Corinthians 12:27 (nlt) --- All of you together are Christ's body, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part.
I cannot tell you what it does to me to watch people serve.  The Community Fellowship is fast becoming a group of people known for what they do rather than what they don't do.  That is huge, and I am proud of the leadership team and those we are honored to be church with.
We have had people this weekend doing these things: washing cars, giving away hot dogs, laundry love (where you feed their laundromat machine quarters for them) and more.  Today our people have: fed folks at three businesses, fed people at the unemployment office, helped kids at a school get breakfast and lunch, gathered food for the hungry and more.  And SERVolution doesn't stop there.  We've got more on the schedule and the agenda for the rest of the week.
One of the things that I am thinking about AND ask you to consider is getting your family in on it.  Mom, dad and the kids (in our case of who all in yours) do something to serve others as a family ... take cookies to the neighbors, mow someone's yard, go visit the nursing home.  Not sure what we as a family are doing yet, but tonight we are going to talk it through and set our plan in place.
Yesterday we talked about how to make JESUS famous.  Here are some thoughts and verses from the sermon:

SERVolution is not an event. It is a culture of taking Jesus, living and breathing through us, to the people of our community.

Proverbs 19:17 (NLT) ---   If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord—and he will repay you!

What to do with CULTURE: you either choose to define it, conform to it OR create a new culture around you.  We do this by serving people in the name of Jesus.

Matthew 20:26 (NLT) ---  But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant,

Greatness comes in different ways than we think it does.  Not money.  Not power.  Jesus said the greatness comes by serving others.  One of our folks had a conversation with a lady today that works for a state organization.  The lady couldn't understand why we where serving with no strings attached.  Awesome things we are learning.  Better yet, our God is getting all the honor and being lifted up.

Proverbs 14:31 (NLT) ---  Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but helping the poor honors him.

John 12:32 (NLT) --- And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself
Let me brag for a minute... I've never been so proud of the church I serve as I have the last month or so.  These people get it.  They get the fact that we are called to serve, not to serve ourselves or have others serve others serve us.  We are about to see more and more breakthrough like never before.  Waiting on the overflow...God is at work!
