finding meaning and life

Life is not easy to understand, but when we come see life from God’s perspective things will change.  What we treasure will change.  What we want to accomplish will change.  What and who we care about will change.

Jesus is our example.  He literally came to die.  He lived life connected to God as a selfless example of serving others and had the ability to see past people’s preconceived ideas and their struggles.  By speaking the truth through love Jesus opened possibilities for the people He met along his path.  People like the women with a blood disease who suffered for years, like the demon possessed man whose life was so changed people didn’t believe who he was.  The list goes on.  Even the disciples that Jesus called were not highly regarded by other people.

Jesus took no bodies and made them somebodies.  Jesus spoke life where there was death.  Jesus let people see that where they thought they were done was only a beginning.

It isn’t easy to understand.  Life and following Jesus isn’t easy, but the results of following Jesus will change you perspective big time.  Jesus said…

John 12:24  NLT
I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone.  But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.

Unless Jesus died we would not be able to be saved.  That was God’s plan.  There are times we have to die to our thoughts, to our desires and even to our plans so that God can work through our lives.  When we allow God to work through us, there will be more happening than we will ever understand.  We can’t see as far as God does.

If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it.  But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.

Far too many of us are hanging on to our lives.  To hang on to our lives, to live life our way, we will miss the best that God has for us.  In the end we will not gain as much as we could if we lose our lives in Jesus.  That verse doesn’t mean that we will literally die.  In fact if you hold that verse next to some other verses we will come to know that God will give us more life, better life, abundant life as we lose ourselves in Christ.

For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord.

We are on a search.  It is a search for meaning and purpose.  We want to make a difference.  Many people want to be successful and are reaching for or searching for an easy life full of what the world treasures.  It is at that time that we are hanging on to what we need to let go of.  To find God is to find life.  To find God is literally to open the flood gates of what God can and will do in us and through us.  That is what I long for.  Finding meaning and purpose is only possible as we loose ourselves in Jesus.

Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life, righteousness, and honor.

Pursue God above all else.  Pursue His righteousness and His life above all else.  Lose your career in the calling that God has for you.  By doing that we will find real meaning and abundant life.
