oh what a feeling

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person.  The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

There is nothing like the surreal feeling of being part of something that is much bigger than you.  Yesterday was one of those times.  It was an awesome day that our church and many families were excited about and experienced together.

Oh what a feeling it was to be part of watching and experiencing 18 people going through baptism.  The ages of these people went across the decades, and their stories are strong and full of how God has brought them through so many things.  From the young boy who accepted Jesus talking to his mom one night to the divorced mom who has found new hope and strength through the work that God is doing in her life.

As I think back over that 30 minutes my mind is racing with the joy that came from being a part of these precious people’s lives.  Surrounding the portable baptistery were family and friends.  There people who have been a part of our church for a few years and some who were visiting for the first time.

What we all could understand was that God is constantly working to change people’s lives.  Some people have checkered pasts that have all but wrecked their lives.  Others have only begun and their futures are wide open and bright.

There is nothing like it.  There is nothing like what God can do in a person’s life.  Baptism is not salvation.  It doesn’t come with some special water or divine water.  It does come with a commitment by the person taking part in baptism as they desire to surrender to and follow God.

Like these 18 people has God changed your life?  Oh what a feeling when God gives you hope, when He forgives your sin, when He opens your future to the abundance that comes from believing what God says about you.  Oh what a feeling when what God says is so much more important than what anyone else says.

May God change our lives.  May we experience more than we ever have before.  May we believe and trust God with new passion, new strength and new hope all because of the truth that changes our lives.  Oh what a feeling when you follow Jesus!

Romans 6:3  NASB
Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?

Psalm 32:1  NASB
How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered!

John 10:10  NLT
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy.  My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
