We have experienced struggles and pain. Every person has gone through tough things and have gotten lots of perspective through the pain. You’ve been there. Our struggles ought point us back to God. Why?
Nahum 1:7 NLT
The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.
He is close to those who trust Him. Therefore, be close to God. Right? There is not a better offer. There is no one else that can take his place. There is no one with more power to share with us. God has you and me. He is willing to strengthen us. Connect to Him.
For we rejoice when we ourselves are weak but you are strong; this we also pray for, that you be made complete.
Ok. That is another of those things that the world doesn’t get and often we don’t like. When we are weak, He is strong. But admitting our weakness and pain means we have to admit we have an issue, we have to deal with pain and we cannot bury our heads in proverbial sand.
For as long as I can remember there has been symbolism of light and dark, the good and the bad. Today we are taking a look at what darkness is and how it functions. We are also taking a look at where the light is from and how we can live in the light!
1 John 1 is a personal message. The one writing it had interacted with, accepted and has now began to pass these facts on to all who would listen. How incredible it is to know that God has blessed us, loves us and is transforming us.
In that transforming process there are things that get in the way. The biggest of those is our flesh, our humanity. Our spirit, inside of us, is renewed and blessed, but our outer man is still living in the world and influenced by it. That is where we find the pieces of light and dark.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
Jesus is the light. Church and political leaders tried to silence Him or stop Him. They couldn’t. That was true in 32 A.D. just as it is true in 2015. We cannot stop the light of Jesus from shining in and through our lives.
John 8:12 NASB
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."
Following Him means we live in the light. Following Jesus means that He transfers His light to us. We can shine. We can shine for others as we allow the light to go all through our lives.
As God transforms us we acknowledge where we once were and what we once were. At one point darkness was our location and life, but Jesus changed that. We can and must live in the light. It is a choice to live in the light or in the dark. We are people of light!
Ephesians 5:8 NLT
For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!
May God help us spread light and be light. May God let us be so clearheaded that we are more confident than ever. It is all because of his light in our lives and His light being ours.
But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.
