battle begins in the mind

One of the places, if not the place, where the battle begins is in our mind.  Realize that our thinking is a big deal.  Right thinking leads to right living.  Wrong thinking leads to wasted living.  Claim what God has already given us.

For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.

We have the mind of Christ. Because of salvation and God’s promises on our lives, we have the mind and wisdom God already in our lives.  Why is it so many people miss this fact?  Why do we and so many others not take advantage of the mind of Christ.  His mind changes us.

To be ready for battle we have to choose what we think about, what we focus on and what is the most important thing.  God has my mind and my attention!

Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

To set your mind means that we point ourselves in the right direction or in the direction of God.  There are promises from God for us to claim.  There is a battle going on in our lives that calls for us to prepare for battle and prepare to win!

Aim your life and actions on the victory you want and expect the promises of God to be yours.  Expecting something to happen is only right.  Expecting God to be who He is and knowing that success is His choice for us.

Joshua 1:7  NASB
Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.

Many people before us and around us have made horrible choices to live in their own wisdom or without the wisdom of God.  That didn’t work very well for them or even for us when we were trying things on our own and without the help of God.

So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,

God’s word conforms us to who He is and to His best for our lives.  He transforms our lives based on His truth.  But far too often we have chosen to do things the way of the world.  That could not be further from the truth.

Romans 12:2  NASB
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Let God transform you.  Apply the word of God.  Let your mind focus on God and His purposes.  It will make a difference.

But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”  Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
