our 2016 theme: RETURN

Joel 2:13  (NLT)
Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead, Return to the lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.

The Community Fellowship’s theme for 2016 is RETURN.  The verse above is the theme verse.  It asks us to return to God and to understand even more His love and mercy for us.

Some of us have a need to return to God.  We all know people who are not Christians and need to meet Jesus for the first time.  It is incredible that we can some to God and find love, forgiveness and eternal life.  Others need to return to God because of trying to live without Him.  God offers us mercy over and over.  Be encouraged, return to God.

We have the honor of encouraging others to return to come.  This invitation often comes from our conversations, but it also comes from the way we live.  When people see we are different or deal with life’s situation different, our lives may invite people to meet Jesus for the first time.  We will also invite people back to God.

To return is to come back to a place you have been before.  When we come to understand that God is the creator of everything, we know that we come to the one who made us and loves us most.

Here is our theme song for the year (and our worship band will share it again this week… don’t miss it):

"Lift Your Head Weary Sinner"  by the David Crowder Band

Lift your head weary sinner, the river's just ahead
Down the path of forgiveness, salvation's waiting there
You built a mighty fortress 10,000 burdens high
Love is here to lift you up, here to lift you high

If you're lost and wandering
Come stumbling in like a prodigal child
See the walls start crumbling
Let the gates of glory open wide

All who've strayed and walked away, unspeakable things you've done
Fix your eyes on the mountain, let the past be dead and gone
Come all saints and sinners, you can't outrun God
Whatever you've done can't overcome the power of the blood…

If you're lost and wrecked again
Come stumbling in like a prodigal child
See the walls start crumbling
Let the gates of glory be open wide

If you're lost and wandering
Come stumbling in like a prodigal child
See the walls start crumbling
Let the gates of glory open wide…

Returning to God is the invitation we are always offering to the people around us.  May our lives, our conversations and more lead us and others to come back to God often and forever!

Join us Sunday as we continue this new theme!

The whole earth will acknowledge the lord and return to him. All the families of the nations will bow down before him.
