We live in a horribly negative world where all around us are voices of discouragement! What do you do in the face of discouragement? You either give in or fight through. Because we see discouragement everywhere and it comes in so many ways, our response is important.
God calls you and I to be encouragers! Build others up. Stop letting the world tear you and those around you down. It is an incredibly spiritual thing to do build others up. In a place where people are being torn down we are to build people up. This is one of the most spiritual things we can do. Our God is an encouraging GOD, and we are like God when we encourage others. He knows what we need, when we need it. Open your eyes and heart to receive what God is giving.
2 Corinthians 7:5-6 NLT
When we arrived in Macedonia, there was no rest for us. We faced conflict from every direction, with battles on the outside and fear on the inside. But God, who encourages those who are discouraged, encouraged us by the arrival of Titus.
So many “battles on the outside and fear on the inside”. It is happening all around us. We need to hear what God says. BUT GOD gives us encouragement. He tells us that He cares and sends others who care.
Someone cares! God cares! He sent someone to speak in to our lives! God sent Titus to Paul to encourage him. When you can see things spiritually, you begin to attribute things to God. God sent this man to Paul to make a difference. He gives us courage in the middle of the down times, in the middle of the battles.
Encouragement may be something that is huge. It might change someone’s life. It might take a few minutes of our day. It could even take a few dollars out of our account. Giving encouragement and being encouraged may change for us and for others.
Hebrews 3:13 NIV
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
I am currently preaching a series called “Stay Positive”, and one of the best ways to stay positive is to be an encourager. Use your words to encourage others. When you think something good about a person, speak up and give a gift of encouragement.
May we be found as voices of encouragement today!
