be a blessing

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.

Each day there are countless opportunities to bless people we come in contact with.  Are we using our time and resources to encourage and bless others?

All through the Bible God gave blessings to His people.  The prophets of the Old Testament told the people they led to follow God and with the following would come extreme blessings.  The Apostles and writers of the New Testament constantly pointed people to the goodness and blessings of God.

We can do the same for the people that come across our path.  One of the ways that I enjoy doing that is through writing cards.  I used to do this much more.  But I try to write cards often to bless someone.

This also happens in the way that we deal with people face to face.  Are we rude or kind?  Are we patient?  The way we react can also issues blessings to the people we are around.

We have asked the people at our church in the past is to share ARK's (acts of random kindness) with the people they meet.  Would you do the same?  This could be anything from buying a meal for someone, mowing your neighbor's grass, letting someone go in front of you in the checkout line at the grocery store or 100's of other things.

Make sure you are giving people a blessing with what God has given you.

1 Peter 3:9 NLT
Don't repay evil for evil. Don't retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it.

I challenge you to be a blessing to someone today!

NOTE: much of this was first shared in April of 2011.
