Happy birthday to our country, and I love our nation. It is important to realize just how blessed we are. Freedom is an incredible thing. We live in the greatest country of our day. No, this is not a perfect land, and we are not perfect people. Yet it is obvious that with our many God-given blessings there are also many difficult things happening all around us. Still, we are blessed.
Psalm 33:12 NASB
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance.
The United State of America was founded on Christian principles and faith by people who sought out freedom. In our history books and throughout our rich history are the facts that stand in honor of our founders and much of that points to our great God.
As a country we would be lost without God. As people we are lost without faith in and a relationship with God. We need Him, and we need His love.
1 John 4:10 NASB
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:19 NASB
We love, because He first loved us.
Romans 5:8 NASB
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
His love is demonstrated through His gift and was the original and the origin of all that is good. All around this land of ours are people reaching for their dreams. Are you?
The American dream is often the perfect house with the little white picket fence and a couple kids, but I suggest that is really not the dream that many people are reaching for no should we. In this life we want peace, we long for the blessings of God and we know that the real reason that God has blessed our nation is because we have been able to bless others.
As we celebrate July 4th celebrate His love by sharing it with others. He loved us first. He loved us best. Allow His love to flow through you today.
