Happy Birthday America // Tuesday E-Devotion

Lee Greenwood said it best in his song "God Bless the U.S.A." ...

And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

For as long as I can remember (some 36 plus years at this point) we have celebrated with fireworks, cookouts and more the birthday of this great nation of our. If you will recall with me, our family had the honor of visiting our nation's capital in May and were amazed with all we saw and experienced.

This is a great place to live and work and succeed.

Psalm 33:12 (niv) --- Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.

Sunday I shared with The Community Fellowship a message titled "What's Right With America" using Psalms 2:8,10-12 as basis. What's right with America? We have the wisdom of God, the word of God, the worship of God and our wonder of God all around us because we are free to praise and follow Him!

America is great not because we are powerful. America is great because we have a great God who has greatly blessed us. Would you agree? On special friend said a couple years ago ... it is not "God bless American" but it a word that we must share of "America bless God." How right that lady was!

Why I am glad I live in America?

This is the grandest place to plant a church like the one I am honored to pastor!

This is a great nation because my family has the freedom to be who we are and do what we want to do!

This is the right nation and land for us because we can follow Jesus without being thrown in prison or persecuted as others countries experience!

This is a great place because God has so blessed America!

This is a great nation because America needs God and we can give Him away as often as we like!

Happy birthday, America!

Psalm 66:8 (nlt) --- Let the whole world bless our God and loudly sing his praises.

Psalm 67:7 (nlt) --- Yes, God will bless us,and people all over the world will fear him.

Ephesians 3:6 (nlt) --- And this is God's plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God's children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus.

America will only be great as Christian share Him with others and share our believes in how we talk and walk, in how we vote and are passionate. God will be great and be seen in us as often as we let Him.

Celebrate the 4th of July by praising God for this great nation!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
