Several years ago Steven Curtis Chapman released a song that rally made me stop and think. Here are some of the lyrics from The Change:
Well I got myself a t shirt that says what I believe
I got letters on my bracelet to serve as my id
I got the necklace and the key chain
And almost everything a good christian needs yeah
I got the little Bible magnets on my refrigerator door
And a welcome mat to bless you before you walk across my floor
I got a Jesus bumper sticker
And the outline of a fish stuck on my car
And even though this stuffs all well and good yeah
I cannot help but ask myself
What about the change
What about the difference
What about the grace
What about forgiveness
What about a life thats showing
I'm undergoing the change yeah
I'm undergoing the change...
God says this about us:
2 Corinthians 5:17 (nlt) --- This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
Philippians 1:6 (nlt) --- And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
God is still changing us. He is working in our lives every day, if we let Him. Are we seeing Him work? Are we allowing Him to work?
This thought came to me a couple weeks ago when two precious friends went to heaven. I remember another song that has long encouraged me. It is called " If You Could See Me Now" and is one of those 'you can't forget' this kind of things.
I had a cousin to die of cancer who is not too many years older than me, and that is when I found the song. So, I close today's devotion here are the lyrics, and the question is 'how is God changing your life and how will He change your life?"
Our prayers have all been answered. I finally arrived.
The healing that had been delayed has now been realized.
No one's in a hurry. There's no schedule to keep.
We're all enjoying Jesus, just sitting at His feet.
If you could see me now, I'm walking streets of gold.
If you could see me now, I'm standing strong and whole.
If you could see me now, you'd know I've seen His face.
If you could see me now, you'd know the pain is erased.
You wouldn't want me to ever leave this place,
If you could only see me now.
My light and temporary trials have worked out for my good,
To know it brought Him glory when I misunderstood.
Though we've had our sorrows, they can never compare.
What Jesus has in store for us, no language can share.
You wouldn't want me to ever leave this perfect place
If you could only see me now
If you could see me now
If you could only see me now
