signs for the new year :: Monday E-Devotion

"Caution: God at work"

You may not see that sign along the road, but you will see it all along your life.  Read it.  Believe it.  Watch God work.  There is more to His plan for your life than you know.

1 Corinthians 15:10 (nlt) --- But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me—and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace.

As my family was traveling back to Virginia after being in Oklahoma for the holidays, we had an exciting experience.  On the Mississippi River bridge of I-40 one of our back tires blew out.  We watch the pieces fly in various directions and made our way to the side of the road.  Still in a lane of travel.  Wind was rather high, and the traffic was New Year's Eve heavy.  You could say, we began to pray and watch.  God was at work.

I have to give praise to God and a big thanks to the Arkansas State Police and Highway Department that changed the tire and got us off the bridge safely.  Ask the kids or my wife, and you will hear how God protected us and began to work.

The next couple of hours was spent finding a tire shop to buy a tire and replace the spare tire under our vehicle.  It was at the tire store where I met Kenny, possibly the reason for our trouble.  Kenny is your typical 30 year old living day to day and going through life.  His marriage recently died.  5 kids he dearly loves.  Bad experiences in churches that have given him a dislike for religion.

Acts 15:11 (nlt) --- We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus.

God pulled at my heart, and in the next few minutes Kenny and I talked about a relationship rather than religion, about Christ rather than church.  Please pray that God would save Kenny.

It is in times like this where we see the "Caution: God at work" sign and have to trust Him, follow Him and allow god to use us.  The outcome belongs to Him, and all of this is about His kingdom and will change lives.  2008 is going to be a year where we see God do big things and see lives changes all around us.  Trust God and what Him work.

PRAYER
Hannah Zollars is recovering from pneumonia.  Allison Dickey, pastor and friend in Oklahoma, is having some heart problems.  Unspoken request.  Continue to pray for Deanna and Rick Turnham, the twin boys and Amber.  Praise the Lord for safe travel and a great holiday.  Ask God to save Kenny in Memphis.
