I need some peace

Philippians 4:7 (NLT) --- Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Do you need peace in your life?  I sure do, and I would do almost anything for it.  How about you?

Far too many people live with and get used to a life without peace, yet God offers us His peace that will change more than just our attitude.  What is it that keeps you from having peace?  Don't blame other people.  Don't blame your situation or debt or your health.  You and I can have peace in the middle of chaos if we want to.

In the movie HOOK Robin Williams who plays the part of Peter Pan is told to find his 'happy place'.  It was there that he would find what he needs and find the ability to accomplish what he wanted to do.  The place and thought he found was of his children, and that place freed him from concern, trouble and so much more.

I believe that when we focus our attention on God that we will find real peace.  This is not a diet of fasting, reading the Bible and doing nothing else.  It is focusing my attention on God throughout the day with the other things that take place.  It is when I allow my family to focus on God and let my life be what God wants it to be.  There anyone can find real peace.

1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) --- casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

We worry about so many things that are outside of our control.  Have you let, as I have, what you worry about rob you of peace?  Be honest.

Give your worry and anxiety to God.  He really does care for you.  His desire is to love you and me, to help us through, to let us see and to help us escape from the darkness that we so often encounter.  His peace comes when we lean on and trust Him.

I need some peace.  How about you?  Here is my prayer for us today:

2 Peter 1:2 (NLT) --- May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.

Excellent post, brother. We too often let life's complications or our pursuits rob us of what God is holding out right in front of us! Thanks!

Francis Chan's "Forgotten God" (brand new book)

One of the most powerful preachers, writers and leaders of our time, in my opinion, is Francis Chan.  His first book, Crazy Love , revolutionized my thoughts about God's love as well as my interacting with God.  Now it is time for a brand new book from Chan being released tomorrow, September 1st.  The book is Forgotten God .   This is a phenomenal book about the power that Christians and the church can and must tap into.  All of it is within the Holy Spirit.  Francis talks about the power that was seen in the book of Acts when the Holy Spirit began to move among people.  It is true that many have avoided or maybe forgotten what the Holy Spirit is all about.   And like the Savior who poured out His life and blood so we have reason to rejoice, we were made to lay down our lives and give until it hurts.  We are most alive when we are loving and actively giving of ourselves because we were made to do these things.  It is when we live like this that the Spirit of God moves and ac...

inspiration from C.S. Lewis

There are many people, past and present, who get our attention by what they write or say or share.  For me C.S. Lewis is one of those.  He was a prolific writer who continues to grab the attention of thinkers from many different points of view. Lewis first grabbed my attention when I was in 5 th grader, and our teacher, Mrs. Foy, shared The Chronicles of Narnia with our class.  It was a powerful time that this dreamer opened doors to thinking like I had never lived before.  He wrote of faith, of far off places and of strong figures who found their character rooted deep in God. C.S. Lewis was born in 1898 and died in 1963, 7 years before I was born.  It wasn’t until his 30’s that under the influence of his friend Tolkien that he came to be a Christian.  He was raised in a traditional church going home, turned away from God as an Atheist in his teen years and through trying to stay away from God and faith returned to God with...
