His name

Names are important.  When you hear name, you may get a perception of what a person is like.  I do that.  At Christmas time we have several names that come up telling us about Jesus.  These are incredible:

Isaiah 9:6 NLT
For a child is born to us,a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Matthew 1:21 NLT
And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

Matthew 1:23 NLT
"Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son,and they will call him Immanuel, which means 'God is with us.'"

He is my Jesus.  Plain and simple truth.  He became my Savior in May of 1986.  He continues to be my friend.  He is my guide and my comfort.  He blesses with peace and direction so often.  He is my God.

Who is Jesus to you?  Think about it.  Fill in the blanks:

Wonderful counselor _________________________  To me this means that I can go to Him, hear from Him and trust Him, Jesus, at all times.  Best counselor I've EVER had!

Mighty God _________________________  He is unending, always faithful, resources upon resources, and He loves me because He is able to love me through all my crud.  That is God's ability to give a child and for Him to be born of a virgin.  Just a slight miracle from our awesome God.

Everlasting Father _______________________  Always my adopted father that created me as well.  Nothing can or will change that.  See Romans 8:38-39.  Nothing can separate us from Jesus!

Prince of Peace ___________________  I need peace and I need a lot of it.  How about you?  He gives peace when no one else can.  That is awesome to be able to trust that His peace will keep us from wrong and will keep us strong too.

Save His people from their sins ... JESUS ________________________  Enough said.  Jesus is the only savior.  See John 14:6.  I love this truth.  The child of Christmas is the Savior hung on a cross and resurrected from a tomb alive and well in heaven today.  He is able to save!!!

God with us .... IMMANUEL _________________________ Always with me, He never leaves me, walking with me, guiding me, loving me.

He will do the same for you.  How awesome our God is!!!  Merry Christmas and keep Him as the center and most important part of your celebration!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
