don't miss the sweet stuff

Hello COMMUNITY family and friends!!!  Last Sunday was Easter, and it was awesome.  God is setting us up for what we are soon to know as MORE.  Join us in praying for MORE.  MORE lives to be changed.  MORE resources to share with others.  MORE experiences and sweet time with Jesus.

Before we head in to the weekend, we'd like to share with you some of the things you can be part of in the weeks to come.  None of us can do it all, but chose to serve.  It is gonna be good.

WORK DAY @ NEW CAMPUS

Each Saturday from 9am until about noon there will be people working at our new campus (700 Commerce Ct., Martinsville , VA) to prepare for our future as well for a mission team that is coming the last week of May to frame up our new facility.  Bring your work gloves, brooms, shovels, wheel barrels and more.

COMMUNITY 101 BEGINS SUNDAY

There is room for more of you to be part of our membership and deeper understanding class.  If you wish to know more about your salvation and more about The Community Fellowship, this is the place for you.  It begins this Sunday and will happen for one hour after worship the next four weeks.  Lunch will be provided for those in the class.  Let us know you want to be a part by emailing Pastor Michael atmharrison@thecommunityfellowship.org.  This is always a great time of getting to know more people and growing closer to God.  This is also the class one must take to join the church.  Hope several of you will join us.

MOTHER'S DAY CAR CARE CLINIC

It will be Saturday, May 10th from 9am until noon.  That is the same time as our 2nd Saturday FREE Community Meal and Clothes Closet.  We will begin to take reservations this weekend and seek to serve 60 or more ladies with FREE OIL CHANGES and general diagnostics.  We need mechanics, helpers and folks willing to work.  We will also offer manicures and pedicures. That means we need some ladies who like to serve in this way.  Let us know this Sunday how you want to serve as we demonstrate the love of God to our community in this special way.

MISSION TEAM, MEMORIAL DAY WEEK

We are excited about the beginning of greater work at our new campus.  Memorial Day week we will have more than 60 workers converge on our community to begin the process of framing out the new campus, especially the children's and sanctuary areas.  Please pray for the things needed to help this happen.  Pray for finances and resources.  Pray for permission and permits.  Pray for our contractor, Kenny Locklear, and all the workers who will work before, during and after.  God really is setting us up for more.

WORK WITH OUR COMMUNITY KIDS

Would you like to help with preschool or children's ministry?  There is a place for you to help.  Please see Julie Harrison to let us know that you want to help our kids grow in Christ.  Write Julie atjmand3r@gmail.com to get involved.

THIS WEEKEND ... LET'S WORSHIP

This Sunday will be week 2 of our BROKEN series.  We will talk about how God takes us when we are broken and begins the healing process as well as uses us for His good.  God has never given up on us.  Don't give up either.  Invite someone to come with you to church this Sunday.  It all begins at 10:10am Sunday morning.  See you then!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you

why is it Good Friday?

Holy Week is the time we focus on God and His gift of salvation.  We come to Friday.  The day we remember the cross, Jesus’ death and all God has done for you and me   Why do they call this day “Good Friday” because it doesn’t seems good?   Jesus was treated as a criminal.  He was beaten so much that He could not recognize Him.  His pain would have been too much for you or me to endure.  That is especially from Scripture I’ve read or as in the movie the  Passion of the Christ .   Yet it is a good day.  It is Good Friday because God had our good in His heart.  What Jesus did that day changed our forever direction. Here are some thoughts that come to me:   He is Redemption and Redeemer   He too our Pain and Punishment   He is our Righteousness and Reality   He is the Savior and Life   All of those happened from the cross.  It was meant for the worst lawbreakers.  It was not meant for a Savior who never broke a law.  It was lifted high so that onlookers could see the price Jesus.   Look

Day 8 in Cuba

We have just come off and incredible weekend, and it is day 8 of the mission trip in Cuba.  Thank you to all who have been praying for this trip, the mission team and the impact it will have on those we serve.   Please don’t stop praying. Last week Alex and I served with a mission team in the mountains of southern Cuba.  There were several challenges, but God gave us safety, provision and opportunity to serve some of the sweetest people I have ever met.  No running water… sporadic electricity generated by a small, logo dammed up river, no transportation other than animals, limited food sources and more.  These people love the Lord and sharing their faith with others. Over the weekend we made our way back to Havana.  On Friday our vehicle broke down leaving us on the side of the road for several hours.  We then boarded a bus and rode 14 hours.  We arrived safely and even got some rest. Sunday was so, so good.  We visited two partner churches.  In the morning we were with one church that
