I am attending a conference
today, but I have wanted to share this with you again. May God use these verses and these truths to
make us more like Jesus.
Our True Identity “In
Christ”
(Taken from Lifetime
Guarantee By Bill Gillham, Pages 91-92)
You are justified and
redeemed (already).
Rom 3:24 being
justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ
Jesus;
Your old self was killed (crucified).
Rom 6:6 knowing
this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin
might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;
You are not condemned. (My performance is condemned when I
don’t trust in His life through me, but God does not condemn the performer,
just the performance.)
Rom 8:1 Therefore
there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
You are free from the law
of sin and death.
Rom 8:2 For the law
of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and
of death.
You are accepted. (All my life I’ve sought to be
accepted. Now I am!)
Rom 15:7 Therefore,
accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.
You are sanctified (holy, set apart).
1Co 1:2 To the
church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ
Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our
Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:
You have wisdom,
righteousness, sanctification, redemption ( I am ransomed – restored to favor).
1Co 1:30 But by His
doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and
righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,
You are always led in His
triumph (whether it
appears so or not)
2Co 2:14 But thanks
be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us
the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place.
Your hardened mind has
been removed.
2Co 3:14 But their
minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant
the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ.
You are a new creature. (Even though I don’t always feel or
act like it).
2Co 5:17 Therefore
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away;
behold, new things have come.
You are the righteousness
of God. (You can’t get
more righteous than this.)
2Co 5:21 He made
Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him.
You are liberated.
Gal 2:4 But it was
because of the false brethren secretly brought in, who had sneaked in to spy
out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to bring us into
bondage.
You are joined with all
believers (not
inferior to anyone).
Gal 3:28 There is
neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither
male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
You are a son and an
heir.
Gal 4:7 Therefore
you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.
You are blessed with
every spiritual blessing in heaven.
Eph 1:3 Blessed be
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every
spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
You are chosen , holy and
blameless before God.
Eph 1:4 just as He
chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and
blameless before Him. In love
You are redeemed,
forgiven.
Eph 1:7 In Him we
have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according
to the riches of His grace
You have obtained an
inheritance.
Eph 1:10-11 with a
view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the
summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the
earth. In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined
according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,
You are sealed with the
Spirit. (Imagine the
real you sealed up in the envelope of God Himself).
Eph 1:13 In Him,
you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your
salvation–having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of
promise,
You are alive (formerly a dead spirit).
Eph 2:5 even when
we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by
grace you have been saved),
You are seated in heaven (already).
Eph 2:6 and raised
us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
You are created for good
performance. (And I
can let Christ live through me to perform it).
Eph 2:10 For we are
His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared
beforehand so that we would walk in them.
You have been brought
near to God.
Eph 2:13 But now in
Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of
Christ.
You are a partaker of the
promise.
Eph 3:6 to be
specific, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body,
and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel,
You have boldness and
confident access to God.
(not slinking as a “whipped dog”).
Eph 3:12 in whom we
have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.
You were formerly
darkness, but are now light.
Eph 5:8 for you
were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of
Light
You are a member of His
body (not inferior to
other members).
Eph 5:30 because we
are members of His body.
Your heart and mind are
guarded by the peace of God. (Peace is knowing something, not always feeling it).
Php 4:7 And the
peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and
your minds in Christ Jesus.
You have all your needs
(not greeds) supplied.
Php 4:19 And my God
will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
You are complete (perfect).
Col 2:10 and in Him
you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;
You are raised up with
Him.
Col 3:1 Therefore
if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where
Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Your
life is hidden with Christ in God.
Col
3:3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
By applying these truths of God’s word
our lives will be transformed. Don’t
think it is you or words that changes you.
It is God. He is in the business
of changing us and using us to help others change too!
