we need more confidence

Romans 8:1-2  NLT

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.  And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death

This has been one of those weekends that is hard to prepare for.  Our area received a bunch of snow that almost silenced or at least slowed the pace of our community.  That means our Sunday worship was different too.

We had a great Sunday morning with several visitors but a small crowd.  The message was from Romans 8 and discussed how God has given us great confidence to live life and to believe what we have been taught.  These truths could make a big difference in what we think and how we act.

Because we belong to God all this is true.  Our God really is life-giving and freeing.  Apply that truth and add to it.

Romans 8:5-6  NLT

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.  So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

What we choose to chase, to think about, to buy in to is what we will get.  The old Biblical truth of “what you sow is what you reap” is very true. 

We can choose death or we can choose life.  We can choose to give away possibility of rewards or we can dig in to find even more blessings.  By following the Spirit of God and believing God we will have more confidence than we have ever had before.

Believe God.  Live it out.  Be confident because we are His!
