God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
I just returned from our mission trip to Cuba, as you saw from last week’s posts. It was an incredible time with a great team serving lots of people. Every mission trip has it’s stories and happenings. This one was the same and taught me so much.
Therefore, I am going to introduce you to some of the people I met last week. Each of the people on the trip and those we encountered had a call from God to make a difference in the lives of the people around them.
Let me first introduce you to Doug. He leads a ministry called Cross Culture Connections. Doug has been involved in mission work through leading teams, most recently, helping build and plant churches over many years. He shared lots of stories that caught my attention. He is the real deal and blessed me and our team in many ways. I look forward to serving with Doug in the future.
Alex is one of a kind. He serves as a local missionary being a native of Cuba. His connection to the International Mission Board and Fellowship of Christian Athletes caught my attention. He is leading this ministry to students in various sports and in several locations across the area. With the help of volunteer coaches and church leaders they are teaching skills and sharing Jesus. They are making a difference in the lives of families through student athletes. Alex also introduced us to Vladimir and his family who are planting a church and using sports ministry and teaching English to help people meet God. These men have big vision and big hearts.
There were several other people who served our team. We stayed at a beautiful house, sort of like an Air B&B, and our hosts were gracious, great cooks and supported our work to give shoes and share Christ with students and with a group of elderly locals.
Then there was our team. 5 pastors, a couple business owners, a dancer, a pilot, a nurse and several others led by a real estate agent. Great people from different walks of life all with the purpose of sharing what God has done for us.
We were changed by this trip and excited about what God has ahead for us all!
