John 10:7 NASB
So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep… I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
Jesus said “I am the door”. There are things that we can do to open up doors for others to walk through and be blessed by.
It is always kind to open the door for someone else. This might be a gesture because you are going in somewhere, helping someone getting in or out of a car, or it might be assisting someone because they have a need.
Opening the door is a sign of kindness and honor. There are other ways to open doors for people.
I was listening to a pastor share a recent story that hit my heart. Let me give you the gist of it… The pastor and his wife were in a restaurant recently and saw a lady crying. The pastor’s wife felt pulled to go over to the lady. She did, they talked, and it even started a friendship that continues. The story of the lady crying is that she and her husband ate at that place often, but he died the week before after they have been married 40 years.
But what opened the door for the conversation and friendship was the pastor and his wife paid for the lady’s meal. Literally their generosity opened the door for this lady to find hope and healing through Jesus.
When we are kind, when we serve and share with others, when we meet needs, we are opening the door for others to get to know our God. Be kind. Serve others. Meet needs. Open the door for someone else.
Your generosity might just open the door for someone to find real and lasting hope!
1 Timothy 6:18
Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share,
