savior and rescuer

There are so many ways that describe our God.  He really is good.  If we list what we have learned and experienced about our God, that would be a long list.  Each of us have come in to contact with Him, but if we haven’t, I pray that today is the day you do.

Don’t take it for granted that you know God and your neighbor or friend does too.  Ask the question.  Share about your salvation.  That person near you needs Him.  We need a Savior.

Psalm 145:9  NLT

The Lord is good to everyone.  He showers compassion on all his creation.

He is compassionate toward us.  He is not just the judge, He is the justifier.  He is not just the creator, He is savior.  He is not just the son of God, He is the sacrificial lamb for us.

We never know who we might meet.  We really aren’t aware of what all people need.  We might even miss the opportunity to help someone see God the way we see Him.  If they aren’t aware that He is the Savior, and ready to save and rescue, then share!

What does being saved lead to?  What does our rescue do inside of us?  It is a lot.  And it doesn’t end there.

Psalm 18:2  NLT

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.

That is personal.  David said God you are … my rock, my fortress, my savior, my God, my protector, my shield, my safety.  We all need a savior and rescuer.  He is Jesus!

John 3:17  NASB

For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.

That is why this weekend I will share week 4 of our series “good God” at The Community Fellowship.  Knowing Jesus changes everything.  From eternal salvation to daily rescuing, God is for us, ready to help and the one that all need.

Psalm 18:6  NASB

In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried to my God for help; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry for help before Him came into His ears.

He is our Savior!

Jude 1:25  NLT

All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
