The godly walk with integrity; blessed are their children who follow them.


Yesterday was Father’s Day, and it was the first since my dad passed away in July of last year.  There are so many things I can share about my dad.  A few things stick out and that I would like to remember as well as share with you.


Recognize the blessings.


Often we take things and time for granted.  Recognize the blessings and take them in.  Share those special times with the people that mean so much to you.  It is easy to miss the fact that you are really blessed.


Speak up and share what is on your heart.


That text message should be sent.  Make that phone call.  Go visit when you can.  Again, life is busy, and our time is one of the most precious things we have.  Our biggest regrets will be the things we did not do.  So plan it now and follow through.


The gifts we have are from God.


You have heard it.  You might even have said it.  The older I have gotten the smarter my dad became.  It is something that all of us have experienced through life.  We seem to be able to live not needing anyone else, their help or even their wisdom.  That is just not true.  We are stronger and smarter when other people are part of our lives.


My brothers and I have been blessed.  Our mom passed away in 2015 while dad left us in 2022.  The memories are fresh.  And we recognize that we are blessed, that we should share what is on our heart, and thank God for the gifts He has given us.


I miss my father.  He was an incredible human and an awesome dad.

inspiration from C.S. Lewis

There are many people, past and present, who get our attention by what they write or say or share.  For me C.S. Lewis is one of those.  He was a prolific writer who continues to grab the attention of thinkers from many different points of view. Lewis first grabbed my attention when I was in 5 th grader, and our teacher, Mrs. Foy, shared The Chronicles of Narnia with our class.  It was a powerful time that this dreamer opened doors to thinking like I had never lived before.  He wrote of faith, of far off places and of strong figures who found their character rooted deep in God. C.S.
