It is Thanksgiving week, and there are so many opportunities for us to be thankful and a different mindset. Having an attitude of gratitude is a life changing experience.
Choosing to be thankful is not just for a week or a day or a season. In fact it is something that every Christian should have as part of every day of life. It is a choice. It is a new perspective.
Let’s give it some feet or application …
Colossians 3:16 NLT
Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.
When the message and truth about Christ interacts with us, gets planted in us and fills us, there will be an outcome of being thankful. It will be more than saying thank you. It will come out in the songs we sing, the stories we tell and even the look on our face.
And then …
Colossians 2:6-7 NIV
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Continuing to living in thanks is something that you do even when you don’t feel like it. It is a natural outcome of the choices you made yesterday or last week and way easier than today. In fact that gratefulness becomes a reminder each day.
Then God will fill us even more…
Matthew 5:6 NIV
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
That is a promise. Right? God will will us with more righteousness. More thankfulness. More of Him.
That is why we know and how we know God’s will for our lives.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NLT
Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Have a great thanksgiving week! Be thankful!
