One of the ways that God speaks to us is through His word. Each day I read Scripture. Some times it is hurried. Some times it is slow. No matter when I read, it seems that God shows up in gracious ways and points to truths that touch my heart and life.
Such was the case on this last mission trip to Cuba. Each day the Scripture would come alive. One reason is there without internet, without TV, without some distractions you have time to lean in a bit more.
So on this Friday I will give you some of the verses that have stuck out or many stuck to my heart a bit more.
Isaiah 41:10 NLT
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
That is a promise we can all hold on to.
Proverbs 19:8 NLT
To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.
Makes a lot of sense. Especially the way that wisdom guides our lives.
Isaiah 40:31 NLT
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Another promise that helps us when we struggle.
Luke 23:40-43 NLT
But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? 41 We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” 43 And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Last minute truth from God.
Isaiah 38:2-6 NLT
When Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, O Lord, how I have always been faithful to you and have served you single-mindedly, always doing what pleases you.” Then he broke down and wept bitterly. 4 Then this message came to Isaiah from the Lord: 5 “Go back to Hezekiah and tell him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will add fifteen years to your life, 6 and I will rescue you and this city from the king of Assyria. Yes, I will defend this city.
I’ve always loved the story of Hezekiah. God hears our prayers and responds.
May the Scripture come alive for you today and every day. Have a great weekend and seek God. Listen in. He is speaking!
