The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his
hands.
The media and social media is a
buzz about today’s eclipse. Across our
country, from sea to shining sea, there will be people stopping their day to
view a once-in-two-decade event where the moon passes in front of the sun. It will be a beautiful and momentous
event. And it will also declare the
greatness of our God.
Here’s a question that speaks
to my heart about an eclipse. Is there
anything that gets in the way of people seeing God through my life? There might be several answers.
Last night our family shared a
devotion that asked a similar question that I think will give us insight…
Becoming different in a world of vast
similarity requires breaking free of the things that hold you down and keep you
grounded in the sea of sameness. Think about your life, and I’m certain you can
identify things you haven’t surrendered but need to. You must possess the
courage to let go of the things that anchor you to the safe and familiar. It’s
time to let go of things that limit your faith. Go ahead and consider areas in
your life that need change.
Luke 9:23-24 NLT
Then he said to the
crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own
way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to
your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will
save it.
