The fruit of the Spirit is not push, drive, climb, grasp and trample. Life is more than a climb to the top of the heap.– Richard J. Foster
There is a purpose for everything. In fact even people who lack or say they lack purpose and fulfillment in life have some kind of purpose. Just take a few minutes to watch. You will see the results of words and actions, and often that is the purpose or goal ahead.
What is the fruit coming from our lives? Is it the overflow of selfishness or from being a servant? Can people tell you have been with Jesus or have not been with Him?
It is telling, and my prayer is that the fruit of the spirit will be evident in my life, in my family and in God’s church.
Galatians 5:22-23 NLT
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
The verse doesn’t say “fruits of the spirit”. It is “fruit” because these things go hand and hand. They come together. They work in harmony.
Work through the list. Love. Kindness. Self-control. Patience. Peace. Each of those has it’s own merit, but they are tied to each other. Just like joy, the one we talked about through the holidays. You cannot have joy without gentleness.
May God give us fruit today, tomorrow and beyond. Focus on who matters and on what matters. Remember, you matter, too. Now, may others see the fruit that comes from God in our lives!
If you have no joy, there’s a leak in your Christianity somewhere.– Billy Sunday
