Miguel and his family have been
attending The Community Fellowship for about 6 months and serves as pastor for
our Spanish speaking service.
Miguel
was born in El Salvador and moved to Henry County over 18 years ago. He met Minerva soon after moving here and got
married. They have four awesome
kids. Michelle is 16 years old and
Minnie is 14; both attend Bassett High School.
Little Miguel is 8 years old and Dale is 6; both are in elementary
school.
Minerva
and Miguel ask that we pray for little Miguel as he prepares to have heart
surgery at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville in the months
to come.
The
church that he leads actually began in their home before outgrowing the space
that they had to offer. Miguel works for
Nelson Family Car Dealerships, and his boss Barry encouraged him to speak with
us about partnering together as a church.
For the last four months this wonderful group of Spanish speaking people
have been meeting at The Community Fellowship and will soon become part of our
church family.
As
The Community Fellowship serves our community through many different outreaches
Miguel, his family and others have joined in to serve. They have been able to help serve many more
of the Spanish speaking population of Martinsville and Henry County. Miguel is a gifted speaker and pastor that
loves God and loves people. He has
already become an asset to our church and this community.
He
was saved at the age of 11 in El Salvador and has a powerful testimony of being
an orphan and how God protected and provided for him. Miguel was licensed to preach while serving
as a church planter here locally as he worked with the Henry County Baptist
Association in 1997.
Miguel
enjoys playing soccer and spending time with his family, and one of the things
he loves the most is home cooking of American food. When asked what he does in his spare time,
Miguel said, “I love coming to church and working in church to share the love
of Jesus with others.
Pastor
Miguel has many favorite verses but shared that the one he quotes the most is
John 3:16 which says “For God so loved
the world that He gave His only begotten son so that whoever believes in Him
will not perish but have ever lasting life.”
Thank
you Miguel and your family for all
you bring to the ministries you lead and for all you share in at The Community. Your heart of loving God and helping others
inspires us and others to demonstrate the
love of God to our community. We are
glad you are part of our church family and honored to recognize you as our
Community Fellowship Volunteer of the Week!
