There is more to living by faith than going to church, doing or saying the right things and calling yourself a Christian. It all begins in the heart, and those changes move from the inside to the outside of our lives.
Colossians 3:10 NLT
Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
New nature is a big deal. It is not new like something you buy or some new flower that you can smell. This new is something that only God can do.
He takes what is old, what is tainted by evil or difficult life, and turns it in to something useful and good. He takes what looks useless and makes it useful. He takes what is old and makes it brand new.
That is when we realize who God is and what God has done. It is beyond what we can do for ourselves. In fact it is based on what God alone can and will do. We can trust God.
Ephesians 2:15 NLT
He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups.
That is a tough verse. God makes the ground level for Jews and Gentiles. God deals with racial injustice and judgmental people. God takes what is often separating people wrapping it in to something that makes life different.
Am I just talking around a subject? No, I am not. I am talking about the acts of faith that take us from having little to no value to having deep and great value.
Be careful. That value is based on God’s work only.
Galatians 5:16 NIV
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
Spirit or flesh. Self or Savior. Purpose or hopelessness. Thriving or just surviving.
The choice is ours, each of us. Let what God hoes for you make you new. Then live it out.
