cry out to the Lord

Recognizing who God is essential for those who choose to follow Him.  There are so many places where God shows up, where we see Him work and how much He loves us. During the sermon yesterday at The Community Fellowship I shared a story within a story that has really gripped my heart and reminded me of how much our God loves us and wants to work in our lives.  Check out this Scripture and story. Luke 9:37-43a  NLT  The next day, after they had come down the mountain, a large crowd met Jesus. 38 A man in the crowd called out to him, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, my only child. 39 An evil spirit keeps seizing him, making him scream. It throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It batters him and hardly ever leaves him alone. 40 I begged your disciples to cast out the spirit, but they couldn’t do it.” 41 Jesus said, “You faithless and corrupt people! How long must I be with you and put up with you?” Then he said to the...

verses for our time with God

Let’s just spend a few minutes today taking in some verses that have some incredible meaning.  In fact these things help us hear from God, get to know God and learn how to trust God. There is no particular order or some method to these.  But there is here is truth to help us walk with Jesus! Read on.  Listen up.  Ask God to speak. Psalm 27:14  NLT   Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. Waiting is a spiritual discipline. Ephesians 1:3  NLT   All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. We are blessed by God. Joshua 7:19  NLT   Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, give glory to the Lord, the God of Israel, by telling the truth. Make your confession and tell me what you have done. Don’t hide it from me.” Don’t keep what God has done to yourself.  Tell everyone. Je...

the battle belongs to the Lord

2 Chronicles 20:17  NASB   You need not fight in this battle; take your position, stand and watch the salvation of the Lord in your behalf, Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow, go out to face them, for the Lord is with you.” I woke with a song on my mind.  This happens a lot.  But at times the song is stronger and seems to have a meaning.  Therefore, I will remind you today what I believe God is saying to me. The song is The Battle Belongs to the Lord .  It is by Phil Wickham When all I see is the battle, You see my victory When all I see is the mountain, You see a mountain moved And as I walk through the shadow, Your love surrounds me There's nothing to fear now, for I am safe with You So when I fight, I'll fight on my knees With my hands lifted high Oh God, the battle belongs to You And every fear I lay at Your feet I'll sing through the night Oh God, the battle belongs to You And if You are for me, who can be against me? Yea...

God meets our needs

Now we head in the direction of our back2school outreach, and it is an exciting time.  Over the next several days items will be gathers, plans will be made and all the details are coming together to serve students and their families on August 2.  This really is one of my favorite times of the year.   Let’s continue to learn how to pray.  One of His disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray.  That is when “The Lord’s Prayer” became a reality, and this prayer guides in how we pray and what is important in prayer. Over the last couple days we have begun to walk through this profound prayer and all it holds for us and our faith.  One simple request from one disciple led to a powerful answer from Jesus that connects us to the Father.  Matthew 6:9-13  NASB   “Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day ...

I sought the Lord

Some songs just stick out.  You get them in your head and can’t get rid of them.  Have you had that happen to you like I have? Then there are songs that seem to go on and on.  They just won’t stop.  Some of those get old, but that is not the case with the one I share with you today because as this worship song keeps going the worship seems to get better and better. I am referencing the song Trust in God by Elevation Worship.  It is just one that got stuck, or gets stuck on play, in my head making its way to my heart.  Go find the song and listen to it. Here are some of the lyrics: Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine He's been my fourth man in the fire time after time Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood And what He did for me on Calvary is more than enough I trust in God, my Savior The one who will never fail He will never fail I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered That's why I trust Him, that's why I trust Him I can’t get...

waiting is a struggle

Waiting isn’t easy.  Waiting isn’t fun.  I don’t have much patience, yet often in the waiting is when God is working.  When you have to wait, keep seeking God for what He is doing.   Psalm 5:3  NLT Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.   Psalm 27:14  NLT Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.   Psalm 40:1  NLT I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.   Isaiah 40:31  NLT But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.   I don’t like to wait, but I am willing because God is to have first place in our lives.  God is guiding my path and my family and doing things that I don’t know about as of yet.   Do you struggle with waiting?
