But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.
We need measuring sticks. Yard stick, measuring tape and whatever you use to measure out what is needed sure is helpful. They are helpful in construction, in cooking, in sewing and in lots of areas. I will take the word of others for most of those.
But even in other areas of life we need things that help us measure. Often the world or the norms tell us that doing whatever you have to so you can get ahead is fine. Hurt people. Step on people. Disregard truth. Whatever you need to do, and I disagree with that.
As the conference I attended earlier this week ended Clayton King reminded us that our Christian walk or testimony should go through all we do and all the people we are around. Like when the waitress gets the order wrong or it takes forever to get your food, be kind. Be kind always.
The verse above speaks volumes to me about how we measure wisdom. God’s wisdom is always building us. It defeats ignorance and the wrong kind of pride. This wisdom makes us and others stronger and better.
May we be found with God’s wisdom and truth as part of our every day lives. Gentle. Serving. Kind. Full of good deeds.
