Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
Others. That is a big word. It is also a word that man people do not think about much or simply overlook. Those of us who choose to follow Jesus have to heed what God says.
Serve others. Help others. Make a difference in the lives of others.
This coming Saturday in Martinsville is an awesome example of this love and service to the people of our community. The goal is to serve 500 people with free dental and medical care plus many other resources. We are also offering foot washing and giving away new shoes as we do during back2school (volunteers are needed and should arrive at 7am).
You know the heart of our church. We choose to give. We choose to serve. We choose to feed hungry people, give clothes to those in need, and to help those who find themselves homeless. Why? Those things happen because we believe in meeting needs that we win the right to share Jesus. Plus when people have a need often they cannot hear our testimony.
Please don’t read this as “tooting our own horn” or saying we are better than others. Simply, we embrace the calling God has given the church and ask others to join in. Will you join us? Maybe find a need near you and meet it. Share your life, your resources and the love God has given you with others.
Luke 6:31 NLT
Do to others as you would like them to do to you.
Jude 1:23 NLT
Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.
John 13:35 NLT
Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.
1 Peter 4:10 NLT
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
Your turn. Your choice. Honor God with what you have!
