encourage and give courage

There are so many outcomes that we can talk about in life.  Many of us have seen God do amazing things.  He is still working, and He is working all around us/  May we see it and share it and help others experience God.

Titus 1:9  NLT

He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong.

One of the things that stands out to me about the ministry in Cuba is how God uses the gifts and talents of the people who step up to do what God calls each to do.

It all began in February of 2019 as I say at a table with Alex who shared his heart for ministry in Cuba and the need for partners.  I was in.  I am still in.

God has called me to use my gifts to help others who have God given gifts.  Each of us has a place to serve and can make a difference in the lives of others.  In fact when we use our guts others will step up to do the same.

2 Samuel 10:12  NLT

Be courageous! Let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. May the Lord’s will be done.”

Help others live with courage.  Step up.  Hear God and know that His plan will touch so may lives.  Often the possibilities are hidden behind struggles and even behind fear.

On this last trip I had the opportunity to plan a retreat for the FCA sports ministry staff and their families.  It came together in awesome ways.  God gave us the things that we needed to teach, love on and even pamper these awesome people a bit.

I wasn’t alone.  Friends Bob and Chris Texidor from Missouri joined me to help.  Also the president of the Baptist Seminary in Havana joined us teaching and loving on these people.  It was amazing in so many ways.

Jeremiah 32:39  NLT

And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants.

God is building His people.  I see that and am excited about that at our church, The Community Fellowship in Collinsville, VA.  God is working in Cuba through the sports ministry, and God is working in places in the middle and far beyond.

It is our decision to join God.  Let Him work in your life and work through your life to impact the people you are around each day!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
