Every day we have choices. You can all them so many different things. Some are small and seem insignificant. Some are huge and impact other people around us. But we all have choices.
That is the reason I put before you today two different ideas that make following Jesus not only a good choice but necessary. Let me give you the thoughts and let you choose.
2 Peter 1:5-7 NLT
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.
This list is an elevation or a ladder if you will, yet I do not think that is the case. It is sure that one will assist the other. One thing in these verses doesn’t always proceed the other. So choose a virtue and work on it in your life. Look at that list. These are hard but so important.
Philippians 4:8 NLT
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
That one is a little easier because they are places to put your thinking or to qualify what good thoughts and decisions or choices look like. You would agree I am sure.
Both of those give us direction for our choices. Now it is up to you and me. Lets make our choices count. Make them count for our faith and following Jesus!
