our commitment to sharing Christ continues to grow


There is something different about this church.  There is something different about the people who have made The Community Fellowship their home, and that is a good thing.  More to come.

Some people have been at The Community since we began more than 10 years ago while others have joined us along the way, and over the next 10 weeks, we will talk history, happenings and future too.  Our commitment continues to be:

John 10:10  NASB
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

The Community Fellowship exists as a body of believers that desire to demonstrate the love of God to our community through any means possible.  We believe that the church is to be the most creative institution on earth because we have the greatest message to share, that Jesus alone gives salvation. 

Understanding those two points we choose to do all we can to get the attention of our community, and while we have their attention to tell them about Jesus.

Knowing where you are going makes a huge difference, and it was 10 years ago that God began this journey in us and for us to be.  It was new.  It continues to be new, and there are things ahead that we have not dreamed of.

Something new is not always something good.  In fact the changes we are watching politically don’t seem that great.  Yet God is still in control.  He is first and last.  He will be on the thrown of our hearts as along as we allow.  Our lives have purpose when we find Him.

Has God changed your life?  He will keep on, and He will change others.

1 Corinthians 9:22  NASB
To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some.

How do we hear His voice and know what to do?

"A changed world begins with us … and a changed us begins when we pray."  Eugene Peterson

Recognizing Him we are changed and come to know Him even more.  My prayer for our church and for each of us is that we will continues to want the abundance that God offers and lead others to want the same.

Pray with the understand that our God is good and great at well.  Just like Job in the middle of stress and huge struggles realizing where his strength comes from.  Declare the truth and live by it.

Job 19:25 NASB
“As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last He will take His stand on the earth.

Finally, I remind you that Jesus followers are under obligation to do good, and doing good means taking our responsibility as a citizen of the United States seriously.  Get out and vote tomorrow and be kind to those you encounter even if you disagree.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" wash feet, sharing hope

  John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
