conference notes

I am spending a few days this week at a conference, and as the day ends I looked over notes.  Thus, today here are some nuggets to think on.  Great stuff.  Several have continued to bounce around my brain and heart.

Read.  Pray.  Listen to what God may have to say to you!

--- Rise up.  Get past the discouragement.  Our God is greater than anything that is in this world.

Clayton King

--- If you don’t have anyone that can correct you, keep you accountable, in ministry, then you are as good as dead.

--- Satan loves to plant a seed of a lie in your heart that you are so good and important to God.

--- People will connect with your transparency more than they will your degree.

--- We are servants before anything else.  Give me a towel.  I don’t need a title.

--- Knowing the truth doesn’t set you free.  Doing it does.

--- It is good to filter out the voices that tell us that God’s grace isn’t good enough for us (or any of the other lies).  Call them liars.  Study the truth.  To stand on the truth you have to study the truth.

--- Satan lies to you because he doesn’t want you to know what God can do.

Ed Stetzer

--- A lot of people in the world are hurting.  Pain doesn’t go away when you are in ministry.  You can have joy when life is hard when you trust God through the pain.

--- Speaking of the recent events in Las Vegas… The system is broken.  Understand that.  Know that problems will come. 

--- You are not exempt from problems.  No matter your place or situation you will have problems.  The difference is in how we respond.

--- Our values determine our evaluations… Warren Wiersbe

--- One of the greatest moments you will have and show is when you walk through trials and pain. 

--- One of the hardest things is parenting.  There is no hurt like you have for the hurt you have when your kids are hurting.

--- People are watching our responses, and it is an opportunity to share.  It is an opportunity for joy as we trust God through the pain.

--- Often times the most broken people are those walking through struggles and pain with joy.

--- How you face problems and with whom you face them, will determine if your problems make you bitter or better.

--- Nobody gets through life without some brokenness, but God will walk with us through it.

Dave Stone

--- We get wrapped up in ministry to build our little kingdoms, but we do it to the detriment of our families.  They often get the leftovers. 

--- Your greatest accomplishment might not be something you do but someone you raise.

--- When you say someone’s name, you convey a relationship with them and say, “I value you”. 

--- Move from having a thin skin and a thick heart to having a tough skin and a tender heart.

--- Jesus let Pilate know that he wasn’t taking Jesus’ life.  Jesus was laying it down.  Jesus knew that he could save himself or he could save them but he could not do both.
