Wednesday of Holy Week


It is Wednesday of Holy Week, and today we are going to look at Judas.  

I have lots of questions on this one.  Why would God allow such a man to be part of His team for so long?  Why not choose another way without all the pain and grief to the cross and Jesus’ death?  

Judas is a figure of many people we have dealt with through life.  They want to deceive or have wrong motives to gain for themselves.  God teaches us how to deal with such and to make sure our motives are not selfish.

Check your motives.

Luke 14:11 NLT
For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Judas played an important role in the Holy Week festivities.  What we do know is that he was conflicted.  He wanted to back out of the deal he made to sell out Jesus.  His life ended in sadness and in his taking his own life

I am grateful for Jesus, the cross and even more His resurrection and our salvation.  Judas is a picture for us.  

Be kind to people, even those against you.  God will defend us and fight for us (many verses remind us of that).  It is our place to be honest and be careful.  It is God’s place to pay back people for their actions.

It is important that each us is careful to stay close to Jesus and not drift away.  Judas drifted away.  He was more concerned about money than anything else.  What might has been different is Judas would have remained faithful to Jesus?

May God help us to exalt Jesus more than anyone else as well as for us to stay faithful as a follower!  

It is Holy Week.  Be kind.  Be thankful and stay close to Jesus!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. wash feet, sharing hope

  John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
