moments God provides

Don’t take for granted those moments.  Yeah, God provides moments that we need to cherish and remember.

Sometimes life is moving fast.  We are busy.  So much going on and so many things to do.  It is that stuff that keeps us from being able to enjoy what God is doing and what God has provided.  I am speaking from experience.

Yeah, I am an over achiever, work a lot, stay on the go and super busy.  Yet there are times I am reminder or hit over the head with opportunity to enjoy moments and people and unique stuff going on.

Are we able to see those times?  Are we even able to enjoy those moments that God gives us?

Ephesians 5:16  NLT

Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.

Psalm 46:10  NLT

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”

Psalm 84:11  NLT

For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.

Some moments that I recognized this the last week stand out big time.  I will give you some examples of when I feel like God told me to take a break, to take in what was happening, to chill or to enjoy the moments.  Ya know what I mean?

I was talking with my pastor buddy who is leading a mission team to work on our building this week.  Just be there.  As he was talking I needed to listen and just be there.  Forget all that is going on or what I think I should be doing and be there.

While we were vacationing with our daughter in Hawaii something incredible happen, and I will share more about this.  A volcano erupted.  We had just visited that island the weekend before, and it was often.  But we went back.  We encountered the volcano, the setting and the time together.  It was amazing.

My daughter and I took an extra hike to that volcano.  It was just us.  It was late at night.  We talked and walked.  We took it all in.  Really was a once in a life time moment.  Not being with my daughter.  But being with my daughter in that moment that was so cool.

Getting up early to be with God.  Those are awesome moments.  I do that normally, not always getting up early, but time with God.  On vacation these moments are even more special, but what God said was just take the time, enjoy the moments and listen.  If it is not just what I created or imagined, go with it.  It was awesome.  Time with God.  Time with my wife with God.  Just wow.

Look at the moments God provides and enjoy them!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
