There is a real problem of doing nothing. Recently in a sermon and then here in an e-devotion I talked about how risky it is to choose to do nothing. You miss God, His direction and His best for your life. But there are more issues about doing nothing.
James 4:17 NASB
So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin.
Yes, you read that right. Doing nothing often means that you forgo doing what you know is best. We don’t just get in trouble when we do the wrong thing, but there is an issue, really a problem often, when we do nothing when we know we should do something.
Does that sound weird or wrong? I agree, it might. We need to understand when we are given direction that we need to act. Pleading ignorance doesn’t always get you off the hook.
Read that verse again.
When we know what is right and choose not to do it, we have sinned. Inaction ends up being sin. A no response is the wrong response when the truth is in your grasp.
Julie and I went to see the movie Sound Of Freedom this weekend. This is the story of Tim Ballard rescuing two children who were stolen from their father and sold in to slavery, especially sex trade. It is a difficult movie based on a true story. Do your research.
Sex trafficking is a serious problem around the world, and the United States is the place that it is the most trouble and in huge proportions. It is sad. Often those sold in to the sex trade are children. You read that right as well. Sickening to say the least.
So, when we know the right thing to do, we are to respond.

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. 9 Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.
Do something. One of the quotes from the movie that has already been shared countless times is this: “God’s children are not for sale”. That was the response that Tim Ballard shared for why he did what he was doing.
We have to do something and not be silent or not do nothing. When God speaks to you, respond. Move forward. Do what He says.
