God removes barriers

BARRIERS

but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

There are many barriers in life that keep us from moving forward, and as a Christian we serve a God who deals with and even removes barriers. Each barrier has different characteristics and comes for different reasons.

Some barriers are due to our poor choices or maybe from the things we learned from others that are not true. In the verse above we learn that when Jesus comes in to our lives that He will begin to remove the veil in our lives.

The veil talks about what or how we can see. It also refers to what happened when Jesus died and the veil in the temple was torn in two meaning that people can come to God on their own. The veil also signifies we see life and people different. I believe this means God begins to remove barriers in our lives.

Ephesians 2:14 NASB

For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,

The barriers come in lots of different forms. Here is the first:

Romans 6:23 NASB

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Sin is a huge barrier. God forgives our sin when we accept Him as our Savior. Yes, we will still deal with sin, but we have a choice to deal with sin as God reminds us about His truth.

Another barrier that God removes is the way we think. Put human reasoning next to God’s wisdom, and then you have a major problem. It is better to live by faith and follow God.

God removes barriers. That is a fact

John 16:13 NASB

But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

The Holy Spirit changes our thinking. God also continues to help us connect with God all the time. The removal of the veil reminds us of that. God also removes a barrier by making our salvation a daily process of changing us and drawing us closer to God.

Praise God for the barriers He is removing in our lives and how He is keeping us connected to Himself on a daily basis.

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow. He served. He valued and gave value to others. That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet. It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives. Jesus said we should do this. See the verse above. Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
