you are surrounded

You are surrounded. That might be what you hear when you are in trouble. It might even look like you are done, defeated and headed for a lose.

I have seen movies about battles, old westerns and new military ones, when the enemy surrounded who we thought was the good guy. Some way the good guys came out winning. Or did they?

Deuteronomy 1:30 NLT

The Lord your God is going ahead of you. He will fight for you, just as you saw him do in Egypt.

In life we often feel like we are surrounded by the enemy or by the situations of life. Seems like we are in deep trouble, but it is at that moment that we remember what God has said. He is for us, with us and fighting the enemy for us.

Isn’t that one of the most incredible things to understand? God is for His children. The victory is His. The battle is His. It is time to give it to Him. That doesn’t mean give up. But it does mean let God lead and win.

I recently came upon a new worship song that has grabbed my attention. The words repeat a lot, but the truth of this song and what it reminds us in Scripture is what we can hold on to.

We might think we are defeated, but we aren’t. God has our back. When it looks like I am surrounded by the enemy, I am really surrounded by God. This is how I will fight my battles. I will let God fight for me.

This isn’t giving in. This isn’t running when you are scared. This is understanding where you are strong or who is strong.

We are surrounded by God. Let Him fight your battles!

Jeremiah 15:20 NLT

They will fight against you like an attacking army, but I will make you as secure as a fortified wall of bronze. They will not conquer you, for I am with you to protect and rescue you. I, the Lord, have spoken!

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow. He served. He valued and gave value to others. That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet. It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives. Jesus said we should do this. See the verse above. Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
