Our family continues to do something we learned a long time ago. I am speaking of our family devotions that we share at the end of each day. Often it is very encouraging to share with our children and to pray together.
I would recommend this for every family. There is power and strength that comes from reading the Bible and from prayer. When you do that with others, the power and courage and strength are doubled or more in each of us. Give it a try.
Last night’s reading reminded me of a poem that holds a lot of truth. Here it is:
Awaken
By Lawrence Tribble
One man awake,
Awakens another.
The second awakens
His next door brother.
The three awake can rouse
A town
By turning the whole place
Upside down.
The many awake
Can cause such a fuss
It finally awakens the
Rest of us.
One man up,
With dawn in his eyes
Surely then
Multiplies.
That was written in the 1700’s, and it continues to speak of something that will change us if we allow it. Together more is accomplished. Together we make a bigger difference than we do alone. Yet it begins with one person.
That is powerful. Keep on making a difference and see what God does!
Ecclesiastes 4:12 NASB
And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.
