WOW... overwhelmed

Wow.  I am overwhelmed by all that has taken place over the weekend.  Last week I shared what was taking place and even asked you to pray over each one.

Colossians 1:3  NLT

We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I will begin with the mission trip that 14 people from our church were blessed to be part of.  We traveled to Virginia Beach to be part of the Serve Tour.  58 churches from 13 different states partnered together to complete 40 different projects.  What excited me the most was to watch our team from The Community Fellowship grow closer and closer.  God was working.  We complete several projects from flower beds at schools, a wall at an animal shelter, helping with a roof, sharing the Gospel door to door on what is called a grill walk, sharing the Gospel on the beach and more.  It was awesome.

Move on to Emmaus as 6 ladies from our church had a lifetime of Godā€™s goodness over a three day period.  I can not wait to hear what God did, but what I have heard already makes me smile knowing that God did some amazing things.  They, their families and our church will not be the same.

Now on to Raceway Ministries Martinsville.  Normally I get to be there all weekend, but I went to the mission trip and then Sunday at the speedway.  It was amazing to hear about the conversations, the worship services, the way things seemed to weave together with other ministry that was going on.  But what I loved the most is watching our people love on and serve others.  And it went on for four days.  Please pray for those who heard about Jesus to respond.

Our church service Sunday at The Community Fellowship included testimonies and a challenge to serve.  A young man, 21 years old Hayden Tobin from Forgotten Ministries in Oklahoma, challenged us to think about and change what is keeping us from serving.  It was awesome.

Again I ask you to pray.  Pray for our church and yours.  Pray that we will come so close to Jesus, hearing His love for us and His desire for us to serve that we do just that.  Take the opportunity to serve.

Joshua 22:5  NLT

But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions that Moses gave to you. Love the Lord your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul.ā€

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciplesā€™ feet, drying them with the towel he had around himā€¦ 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each otherā€™s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
