take another look

Just a few days in to a brand new year, and I am still talking about icebergs.   Kind of ironic, ya think?   I mean the east coast is being pounded with snow and winter storms, and I am asking you to think about icebergs.   Just so you, this is a coincidence. Just so you know I so love snow, and we have no snow.   But it is cold with almost every day in either direction not above freezing.   This means my heart is heavy for those who are homeless and those who are cold.   Pray for these special people. But the iceberg has another meaning for me.   I’ve asked you to think about what is above the water and what is below.   You see a very small part of the iceberg above the water, and it relates to what others see in our lives.   What we don’t see is what is under the water of the iceberg.   It is huge.   And it relates to the reality of life.   It is the good and the bad.   It is experiences of failure, of pain, ...

James 1:2-4   ESV Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials   of various kinds,   3  for you know that   the testing of your faith   produces steadfastness.   4  And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be   perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. Yesterday I pointed readers to look at an iceberg.   People see the part that is above the water.   It is perceived that person, by way of the example of the iceberg, is successful and full of all that is right in life.   There are few, or even none, flaws and hang ups in life. That couldn’t be farther from the truth because what is under the iceberg, what is under the water.   If you look at the picture from yesterday’s post, or even todays, you might see the truth of pain, heartache and failure, but you will also pointed toward growth and learning.   And honestly, I have a lot to learn.   Maybe you do as well.
