quiet time

Go with me once again to familiar place.  It actually finds it’s roots in several places, and all of them have left marks on my life and made a huge difference in my life. When I was a teenager, my youth minister taught us to spend time with God each day.  We learned that a quiet time can include prayer, reading the Bible, listening and note taking.  It should be an important part of our lives as it helps shape and strengthen us.  It did.  It has.  And there is more, much more, to come. Early in my years as a pastor and a husband, I went to a meeting in the mountains of Georgia where I learned more about quiet time and the greatness of verses of the Bible in my heart.  An influential pastor stepped into my life and encouraged me to read a chapter of Proverbs each day.  That was life changing, this is something I have been sharing with others ever since. I remind each of us of the power of quiet time, time alone with God.   Far too many people see it as a task that needs to get done rather than a blessing.   This is not prison sentence but a time a purpose.   This is not a have to but I get to.   It is not getting your quota of Scripture reading and prayer done but a few minutes seeking God and not missing the greatest parts of that day and every day. Isaiah 55:6   NASB Seek  the Lord  while  He may be found; Call upon Him  while  He is near. Colossians 4:5   NASB Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the  most  of the  opportunity . Jeremiah 33:3   NASB ‘ Call  to Me and I will  answer  you, and I will tell you great and  mighty  things, which you do not know.’ Those three verses speak volumes about our choices and for the opportunities that are ahead of us.   Choose to spend time wit...
