because He does

Because I said so.  That is one of the answers I got from my parents that I didn’t like.  I wanted a reason for their answer, but too often the answer was just because and truth me. Just because has long been one of those things that keeps showing up because we don’t understand everything.   A song continues to get my attention.  It is by the band Judah, and the song is Just Because .  It gives that answer and points to something we need to lean in to.  I really like the sound of the song.  I connect with what it has to say.   Here is a little of the song or the lyrics.  Go find the song and listen or watch.   Boldly I come Into His arms With nothing to bring But all of my heart How could this be? The way He looks in my eyes All broken and crimson sin He sees only white   And I can’t do anything To gain what He’s done   I’m His beloved I am His friend His love has no limit From beginning to end No angel or demon will eve...

different love

This Sunday I will continue our study of 1 Corinthians 13 called “Love and Life”.  I honestly think it is amazing and even shocking at times at how messed up our world is in what they call love. Look around you today.  Notice what is pure affection.  Notice how wishy washy love and commitment is between couples and marriages seems to be.  This is not new in any way because our world has been warped for a very long time. Watch to see how people love and what people tend to demand to know how healthy they are, how healthy their family is, and even how healthy the nation or community around them is. In this last e-devotion of the week I contrast two definitions or understandings of the word and concept of love.  We have just come through Valentine’s Day which also makes these truths even more important.  What should we learn? Here is a good word … The difference between secular love and Christian love is that secular love is not rooted in the cross of G...

is it love week?

It is Valentine’s week.  That might be a reminder for all you folks in relationships.  Wednesday is the day.  More flowers, candy and love filled greetings cards will be bought at the last minute by men who love their ladies. But what is more than this holiday in showing love is the place where we learn about and see lived out the greatest love of all.  That would be God. He is love.  He has shown love.  And He loves you and me more than anyone else. Psalm 103:8  NLT   The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. Fact.  Right there.  God is filled with the greatest love, unconditional love, powerful and compassion filled love.  That is a different kind of love than the world shows us and talks about in so many ways. Why is God’s love so different?  It is because God’s way is opposed to the way of the flesh, what feels normal and even the reasons why we love.  Listen close...

God loves variety

This week is our family vacation, and I continue to take a look back at e-devotions from the past.  I will turn back time and will pass on to you some that still speak to me.  Read and share with others.  Pray for the continued impact of God’s truth and these e-devotion on many lives. Thank you for allowing me to take some time off and still share with you these e-devotions as we turn back in time… Much of this e-devotion was first shared in June of 2012: 1 Corinthians 12:12 ,20  NASB For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ…But now there are many members, but one body. I am a people watcher.  One of my favorite places is the airport especially as I have a layover or arrive early.  I’ll usually chose a location where there is much traffic.  People are so different.  God loves variety.  Short and tall.  Skinny and not so skinny.  Young...
