Monday mind dump

So many things run through my mind as we close out the weekend and move in to a new week.  A few years ago I would share something called a “mind dump” on Mondays to simply unload all that went on during the weekend. So I will jump back to the mind dump and share just a little of the overflow from the weekend!  Remember this is not bragging or gloating but to sharing what is on my mind. Proverbs 20:7  NLT   The godly walk with integrity; blessed are their children who follow them. Last week was full.  It had opportunities of all kinds as well as meetings.  But the best part of the week was time with our oldest daughter.  She lives thousands of miles away, and she came to visit her new nephew as well as the rest of the family.  Having adult children is very different from having children at home. Cherish the moments you have with those you love.  We enjoyed breakfast several mornings.  We enjoyed some afternoon talks and time with her mom...

crazy Monday

It seems to be a crazy Monday, but it is not.  Julie is getting ready for school to start this Wednesday.  There are lots of meetings at school, and our church is helping serve breakfast at a school this morning.  This weekend our son had a birthday.  Of coarse we had church, some meetings and lots going on.  Therefore, it seems to be a crazy Monday. But i it is not.  It is a day to prepare for what is ahead.  I am praying for our children and the children of our community.  I am thinking about the weeks ahead and preparing for a mission trip, some special time with my brothers, some events and outreach.  Man, there is a lot going through my head.  Seems like a crazy Monday. Do you get my point?  Every day brings challenges, but how we look at the days brings either darkness or light, excitement or discouragement.  The choice is ours.  It all depends on how we look at things. We are in a series at The Community Fellowship ...

it's Easter ... learn from Him

It is holy week of the Easter celebration.  The day after the triumphant entry where Jesus was celebrated and hailed as the coming king of heaven as told of through prophecy.  So many points lead us and others, especially those who were there that day, to see the passion of this hero. Monday and Tuesday of Easter week finds Jesus teaching some very important and difficult lessons, but before I share those happenings, I share part of the story that stands out to me. Jesus was God, but Jesus was also human.  That is what made this man stand out.  Can you imagine the heaviness of the week?  Can you imagine being deity and knowing that the coming days were going to be hard and life changing.  Jesus kept on, followed the Father’s direction all the while helping others see the gravity of faith. On Monday Jesus went to the temple.  It was an incredible word that we still need to hear today. Matthew 21:12-13  NLT Jesus entered the Temple and began to driv...

Monday mind dump

Philippians 4:8   NLT And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.   Think about   things   that are excellent and worthy of praise. Today’s devotion is more of a mind dump like I have shared in the past.   There are so many things that have been running through my mind.   Some of these things are taxing or stressful while others bring me lots of joy and strength. So, here in random order are some of the things that I am thinking about and praying for: - there is no room for hate when you are overrun with love - before we have a problem Jesus was already the answer - living in Biblical community is hard but the rewards are huge. - cannot believe that our son is 14 and growing up so fast (he began high school last week) - life is short and we are reminded of this often through the death of people my age or even younger. - when...
