In the coming days I am going to spend some time recounting the blessings as well as the challenges of back2school 2014 with you, and this is a time where it is pretty easy to see what God is doing.   There are many opportunities ahead for all of us to serve people we encounter. One of the brightest parts of the weekend and our event was having Manny Ohonme as our special guest.   Manny and his wife, Tracie, started Samaritan’s Feet International in 2003 which is an organization seeking to serve 10 million children around the world by washing their feet and giving them new shoes.   All the while they and their countless team members are sharing the hope found in Jesus with those they serve. Colossians 3:2   NLT Think about the things of heaven , not the things of earth. Often we allow the things around us to adjust our thinking or change it all together.   The stuff that distracts us are things that keep us from accomplishing what is best and what God has for us. It is evident that what many people, and what I have done, is turned my mind off to the things that really matter.   We get busy and find ourselves crashing rather than spending time with the people we care about.   We pick up the computer or our phone rather than spending time reading our Bible or praying. Thinking for a change is something that we need to do more often.   Several of the books I have been reading and even some conversations have reminded me that my focus and my thinking is my choice. Thinking is a choice just like stopping thinking is also a choice.   Our minds can either be wasted space or a place where creativity and making a difference is act...

I really enjoyed sharing this first series of 2014 with out church family called ALL IN which was based on Mark Batterson’s book by the same name.   It is also our theme for the entire year.   My prayer for our church family is that we will be ALL IN without following God, sharing our resources and demonstrating God’s love to others. ALL IN is not an unusual thing.   What we are passionate about leads us to be all in.   If your team was in the Super Bowl, you’d be much more excited about the game.   Maybe your team was.   Mine was not.   Enough said.   If your kid or someone you love is hurting or in need, you’d be all in to do something about it. For me ALL IN is a phrase that describes as person who is a fully devoted follower of God.   ALL IN is not about doing more.   It is about being who God made you to be.   It is about taking the next step with God.   It is about righting wrongs and loving the unloved. ...
