claiming God's promises

Today’s e-devotion is actually from the Navigators Daily devotion by LeRoy Eims from earlier this week.  I know this will encourage you as it did me… 2 Peter 1:4  He has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.  Today’s passage contains a promise: “Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken” (Isaiah 40:4-5). For several years I have claimed that promise for Harvard University and Camp Pendleton, the U.S. Marine base on the West Coast. Why those two places? I know men in both places who are sharing the gospel and working to produce disciples of Jesus Christ. A second reason is that these two places are almost exact opposites, but they...

greater days ahead

Don’t stop doing what you made a commitment to so early in the year.  I am not asking if you made some resolutions or promises, but I do ask if you had a desire to do some things that will make you stronger and guide you to be a Jesus follower. The Bible has become some things to me that reminds me to never stop don’t turn back and keep learning.  Watch how the word of God and some special verses stand out for me and for others. Ephesians 4:21-24  NLT Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. To go a new direction you have leave the old direction.  God wants to renew us.  He is remaking me each and every day.   John 1:12  NLT But to all who believed him and a...

promises, promises

We need the promises to stick.  It is like those things that we could on, and when they don’t happen, our attitude is shot and maybe even our budget is gone, too.  Be careful what promises you believe. If you walk through the Bible (I mean read through), you will find on almost every page and through every book promises that God has given His children.  Claim them.  Learn from them.  Share them with others.  This might be the day that one of them comes through. Like I shared earlier this week in the next level post when we write down our prayers we might see ourselves closer to God and seeing more of what God is doing.  That is just the reason I walked through Philippians 4.  Watch just a few of the promises God has for you and for me. (all verses are from the NLT translation of the Bible) 6-7  Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and th...

claiming God's promises

As the week begins claim some of the promises that the Bible gives us about our great and gracious God.  Read on.  Take in what hits home with you… Psalm 27:1 NASB The   Lord   is my   light   and my   salvation; Whom shall I fear? The   Lord   is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread? Daniel 10:19 NASB He said, “O man of high esteem, do not be afraid. Peace be with you; take courage and be courageous!” Now as soon as he spoke to me, I received   strength   and said, “May   my lord speak, for you have   strengthened me.” Acts 3:19 NASB The refore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times   of refreshing may come from   the   presence   of the   Lord; Deuteronomy 31:6   NIV Be strong and courageous.   Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the   Lord   your God goes w...

promises. promises

Promises. Promises. Throughout the Bible we have cataloged the promises of God that have filled the days and years, stories and lives since time began.   We should be holding tight to every one of those promises. Take it a step further.   Holding on to or memorizing these promises is a great thing.   But do one more thing.   Take another step.   Respond to the promises. A response comes in many shapes and forms.   It might start with a thought and end with an active choice.   It might comes across in a conversation with a friend who is struggling with a decision.   It could even be something deep inside a person that becomes a conviction to think and live differently. To believe promises and hold promises and then to respond to promises we have to know the promises.   We have to know the Bible.   Make it even better by adding to the knowing of God’s promises. 1 Peter 1:5-8   NLT In view of all this, make ev...
