I'm so blessed... so pray

Sunday morning I woke with the following song on my mind.  I think is it important to note what is on your mind.  Also it is important to saturate your thoughts, your walk and all you do with things that impact your thinking… “I’m so blessed” by Cain I'm so blessed, I'm so blessed.  Got this heartbeat in my chest No, it doesn't matter about the rest.  If I got You, Lord, I'm so blessed, I’m so blessed.  Hallelujah, I'm blessed.  … And when I count the problems that I see.  Hope looks all but gone.  But when I count the ways You're good to me.  You got me counting all day long, oh, yeah.  I’m so blessed, I'm so blessed.  Got this heartbeat in my chest.  No, it doesn't matter about the rest.  If I got You, Lord, I'm so blessed Confess it… we are blessed!  No matter what anyone else says.  I am blessed.  You are blessed.  Understand that fact.   Confess truth.  We need God.  And like I share...

observations from Asbury

In ministry you meet a lot of cool people.  And since I have been in this work for more than three decades I have met many.  Some have been awesome preachers from across the world.  I have met Christian musicians that have so much talents.  I have also met some writers and other speakers.  So many of them have left an impression on me. One of those that I met about 17 years ago was a writer named Margaret Feinberg and her husband Leif.  We first met when my family was visiting Washington DC.  It was during the time right before The Community Fellowship was started.  We were in DC to visit National Community Church and wanted to hear their pastor, Mark Batterson, speak and experience their worship service.  He wrote the book In a Pit With A Lion on A Snowy Day. We had no idea that Batterson was not in town or speaking that weekend.  But Margaret Feinberg was speaking.  Since then we have connected a few times, and she has always been...

keep on seeking God

Isaiah 55:6  NASB   Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. That is the verse that I ended yesterday’s devotion with.  It is a powerful word that reminds us to go to the one with all the power, the one who has all the answers and the one who cares the most for us. Why would we seek the Lord?  We live in a world and a society that says they have all the answers, and when they don’t have the answers, they say religion or God is never the answer.  I beg to differ.  Maybe you do as well.  What do we believe about God. Why seek God? Jeremiah 33:3  NLT   Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.  Seek God because He has the answers 2 Kings 6:17  NLT   Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire. See...

Pray! Seek God

Lots to pray for.  Still thinking about what I shared yesterday.  Revival!  Just pray! Psalm 139:23-24  NLT   Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24  Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Isaiah 6:5  NLT   Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” Matthew 6:7-13  NLT   When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. 10  May your Kingdom come soon.  May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. 11  Give us today the foo...

we need revival

Revival services have been happening the last two weeks on college campuses the last two weeks.  The awe and news of revival is not new, but it is new for the people who are experiencing it. Isaiah 43:19  NLT   For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. That is our theme verse for 2023 at our church.  Literally when God does something new it is incredible.  People begin to experience God in fresh ways and He does miracles that all include life change. Oh, the stories coming out of college campuses have been incredible.  The personal experiences have been awesome to hear about, but the thing that gets me the most is the joy people are finding in the presence of God.  Longing to be in the presence of God is not new, but that place, being with God, changes the person that spends time there. Throughout Scripture there are stories ...
