notes from the week

Lets take a simple journey together.  It has been a good week in so many ways, but what I don’t do in these e-devotion is simply share some of the things that happen or are shared during the days of the week.  Here we go. As I shared yesterday was our anniversary.  I am grateful for Julie, but what I am most grateful for is a local restaurant that wasn’t too full where we could sit over in the corner to eat and talk.  It was so good, and I am so blessed. On Wednesday I drove a good ways to a men’s Bible study.  It happens each week at a fast food restaurant in North Carolina (Dario has locations where they give men a free breakfast who come to the weekly study).  It was awesome walking in the room where more than 60 men gathered to study the Bible, and Stu opened Daniel 4 in awesome ways.  Read that chapter.  God is so good. So on with the journey.  Here are just a few of the things that came across my reading this week: Proverbs 31:8-...

a fun top 5

It is the end of the week.  Maybe you have had a great week or maybe it has been challenging.  Could be that you, like me, have had a week packed with stuff and you are ready for a break. Let me take some time to run to something fun called “the top five”.  Maybe it is like the David Letterman show when he did the top ten.  Or maybe it is like some cool article you have read that gives you ideas on a topic or opinion. This top five is a bit of the overflow of this week where I have been, what I have experienced and more precisely what has encouraged me.  Listen or read on. Number 5.  Catch that verse that sticks out. You have heard some share a verse.  Maybe it is one that you have heard many, many times, but this time it has more meaning.  It could come across as literally a word from God meant just for you. 1 Thessalonians 1:8  NLT   And now the word of the Lord is ringing out from you to people everywhere, even beyond Macedonia and Ac...

refuel notes day 2

It was awesome to spend time at the Refuel conference this week.  I shared Tuesday the notes from the first day of the conference.  Today I am sharing notes from the second day.  This isn’t all of the notes but just some that stick out. Listen in.  Learn some of what I did.  May God give give us insight and draw us closer to Him. Exceptional leaders continually model humility  Trouble comes when we rely on our own strength.  Wrestling with fear instead of faith.  If the Holy Spirit pulled himself out of your life, would you even relive that she is gone?  If you model humility and partner with God living with a servant heart, it will bear weight like a pulley.  Power with pride is as potent as poison. notes from Refuel day 1

I am at the REFUEL conference in Lynchburg, Virginia for a few days.  So I thought I would share some of my notes from today’s meetings.  This is some good stuff.  Trust you will find some encouraging to you… Dave Early. Leading the discipling church.  Do we really believe God is able and bigger and has a future plan?  If so, our prayer lives would be different.  Pattern your life around what is going to last forever.
