  Being a follower of Jesus is one of the most important things in my life.  In fact, it ought to be important to all of us.  Take a deeper look and understand that our private lives and public lives ought to match.  Live faith out everywhere. Let’s take a look at some verses from Colossians 3.  One of them we read yesterday.  Each one reminds us that faith is part of all we are, all we do and what we believe about God. Read on.  Maybe read them several times. Colossians 3:1  NLT Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.  Set your sights.  There is more to it, but this really is something we can do in every area of our lives. One week ago Sunday our team sat at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Havana, Cuba as the pastor brought a powerful message from Psalm 133.  It was the church’s final message in a series about family. Over the last 28 years I have had the honor of serving as a minister in many churches. No matter where the church or how it functions, the message remains the same.  It is all about Jesus. I have met preachers through the years that preach and teach very different.  Yet the main thing has always been and will always be about Jesus and the fact that He came to save the world. Last week I went to a conference where I was able to spend time with one of my favorite preachers, Johnny Hunt.  He has always been an inspiration to me.  His strength and message has never changed. I started going to the conference he puts on some 24 years ago.  I missed the last several years, but his teaching remains solidly built on Jesus. Why do some churches or ministers struggle? It might be because the message of Jesus takes a back seat to other purposes.  We must be people of the book. The Bible continues to be all ab...

This past Sunday I began a new series at The Community called FOR ONE.   In the following weeks we are looking at how we connect to God and worship Him.   We really are called to live for an “audience of one”, to live for God and with Him. During the message Sunday I reminded our church and myself what my first priority must be.   After my relationship with God my family comes first.   If I fail my family and my commitment to them, I fail period.   This truth has been on my mind much the past few weeks as we have been preparing for our middle child’s graduation from high school. What a great time this is.   How proud I am of my daughter and of all my family.   There are even greater days to come. One of my commitments is to lead my family to walk closer to Jesus.   That is discipleship.   Very few of us have had some one methodically teach us to follow Jesus in a planned way.   This is how Jesus taught His followers. ...
